Realizing a bicycle parking lot right near the station! A case study of the shortage of bicycle parking at Akihabara Station.

We would like to introduce a case where the planting on the sidewalk was removed and a bicycle parking area was newly established at Akihabara Station, which ranks high in average daily ridership in the city. There was no substantial land available for use as a bicycle parking lot, and it was difficult to create parking facilities. The person in charge from Chiyoda Ward was considering how to create a bicycle parking area within the limited space. By removing the planting on the sidewalk and establishing a new bicycle parking area, they were able to overcome the challenges despite the difficulty in securing land.
