Commercial 10.1-inch battery-free tablet "TA2C-NF8BL"

ODS Corporation, a manufacturer of business information terminals (headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, CEO: Kiyoshi Sunanaga), has started providing a free update that adds new features to the employee efficiency app "NFC Optimizer" (for Android), which is standard on the popular NFC reader/writer-equipped Android tablet "TA2C-NF8" and the battery-less tablet "TA2C-NF8BL," aimed at reducing business burdens. The "TA2C-NF8" and "TA2C-NF8BL" can read various IC cards without the need for an external card reader and are compatible with FeliCa M class. This update introduces new features designed for a wider range of business scenarios, further enhancing convenience. Additional features that expand the usage of this device for various tasks utilizing IC cards, such as reading My Number cards like the My Number health insurance card, order terminal applications using in-house IC tags, and attendance management using employee ID cards, will be made available starting in July.

We will standardly equip our original application "Log Transmission App" in future shipments of our Android tablets "TA2C-NF8" and "TA2C-CS8," and strengthen our domestic support services for early resolution of issues. For customers who have already received their shipments, updates can be handled either through AWS by the customers themselves or through our support center. Our original application "Log Transmission App" collects and compresses logs within the tablet by combining it with the preset "Log Capture Mode," and sends them to our server via the internet. This reduces the time taken to respond after an issue occurs. Additionally, for issues dependent on the customer's environment, it may not be possible to reproduce them at our repair center, thus eliminating the need for customers to reproduce the issues while operating in their actual environment.

Our company, a manufacturer of business information terminals, has developed an employee efficiency application called "NFC Optimizer," which will be included in the NFC reader/writer equipped Android tablet "TA2C-NF8" set to be released in October 2024, and the battery-free tablet "TA2C-NF8BL," which will start accepting orders in November. The NFC Optimizer is an application designed to enhance employee efficiency by allowing users to execute registered functions instantly by touching registered IC cards and other devices to the tablet. This application is currently pending patent application. The NFC Optimizer links functions to IC cards and allows users to execute the registered functions simply by touching the registered card. This eliminates the hassle of operating the device, making it possible for those who are not familiar with IT to operate it without making mistakes, thereby reducing the daily workload of employees. Additionally, all functions can only be operated using registered cards, which enhances security. This application is exclusively for our NFC reader/writer equipped tablets "TA2C-NF8" and "TA2C-NF8BL," and will be provided built-in to the devices.

We will start accepting orders for the battery-less commercial 10.1-inch Android tablet "TA2C-NF8BL," specialized for constant power supply applications such as embedded and stationary uses, starting in November 2024. The TA2C-NF8BL is a sibling model to the "TA2C-NF8," which will be released in October 2024 and features an NFC reader/writer for business applications, but is a battery-less model. By eliminating the battery, it is tailored for stationary and embedded applications. There is no need for battery replacement, which is a consumable item, allowing for long-term low-cost operation. It also comes with preset functions such as automatically turning the tablet on in sync with AC power and automatically launching the browser when powered on, reducing daily operational burdens. Furthermore, compared to battery-equipped models, it has a wider usable temperature range (-10°C to 60°C*), making it suitable for environments where using tablets or PCs was previously difficult, such as TTO terminals in barbecue restaurants, signage near frozen cases, and management terminals in cold storage warehouses, enabling IT integration and labor-saving solutions. *Usable at surrounding humidity below 50% and for several hours a day. Camera operation may stop at surrounding temperatures above approximately 50°C (internal temperature 55°C).
