An Intelligent PDU refers to a Power Distribution Unit (PDU) that supplies power to servers (computers) housed in server racks. In a standard PDU (basic), power measurement, environmental monitoring, and control (on/off) of outlets (sockets) need to be performed manually, which can be very labor-intensive when there are many units. In the case of an Intelligent PDU, it is equipped with features that allow for monitoring displays on the PDU itself and remote measurement and control (from distant locations), which helps reduce costs.
