In gripping (chuck) devices such as those for fixed dimensions, if the object being gripped slips during transport, it can lead to a decrease in cutting precision and handling performance, resulting in defective products and troubles. Therefore, we have jointly developed a sensor system with the Kagawa Prefectural Industrial Technology Center to detect the slipping of the gripped object with high precision. This sensor has a unique structure that combines a parallel spring and detection elements, allowing it to detect and measure slipping within the gripping surface of the chuck, regardless of the shape or size of the object being gripped. Additionally, it utilizes two types of detection elements: strain gauges and piezoelectric films, enabling it to respond to both static and dynamic slipping. It can detect slips on the order of 0.1 mm and employs the technology from the pending patent JP2022-92993.
