At Whittington Hospital, galvanized steel pipes (SGP) had been used for hot water supply piping for over 30 years, resulting in the daily occurrence of dark red water and concerns about leaks. Before the installation of the "NMR Pipe Protector," the iron content in the hot water was very high at 7.33 mg/l, and the deterioration of red rust in the pipes was significantly advanced. However, after 19 days of installation, the iron content in the hot water decreased to 0.388 mg/l. After 29 days of installation, it further reduced to 0.077 mg/l, which is 1/100 of the initial value, completely preventing the deterioration of red rust. It was proven that the red rust in the pipes transformed into insoluble and passive black rust in a volume of water that is 1/10 of the original.
