In August 1998, an "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed in the cooling water circulation piping of the welding robot cooling line located within a major automobile manufacturer's factory in Fukuoka Prefecture to prevent red rust scale. Before installation, red rust from the cooling water piping would leach out, entering the narrow cooling tubes of the body welding robots, causing blockages that resulted in the welding robots stopping, which took over 15 minutes to recover.
