GC-MS is used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of low molecular weight organic substances! Data was obtained and compared using incense and sandalwood!
Using fragrance as a keyword, we analyzed familiar incense and compared the characteristics of its molecular structure with other materials. The three representative aromatic woods obtained from trees are sandalwood, agarwood, and kyara; in this case, data was collected from incense and sandalwood. It is speculated that the woody scent is primarily due to the aliphatic cyclic structure, characterized by aldehyde groups. [Analysis Overview] ■ Analysis Samples: Incense, Sandalwood ■ Identification of fragrance components using thermal desorption GC-MS (180°C) - Confirmed peaks with the same detection time as sandalwood - Indicates that sandalwood is used as a fragrance in the incense *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

basic information
【Data Analysis and Comparative Discussion with Other Materials】 ■Incense/Sandalwood - Characterized by aldehyde groups and aliphatic cyclic structures. - The woody scent is presumed to be primarily due to the aliphatic cyclic structure. ■Generally characterized by the presence of hydroxyl groups (OH) and double bonds, suggesting that intermolecular forces contribute to the persistence of the scent. ■Spices - Possessing ether bonds, the electron donation of oxygen (positive mesomeric effect) enhances the electron density within the benzene ring, and polarization and n/n stacking are presumed to be the reasons for the unique scent and persistence. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
