Capture Kashi no Nagaki Kikuishi and similar-sized insects in narrow gaps!
The "Kashinonagakikuisu Trap," developed in collaboration with Masahide Kobayashi from the Kyoto Prefectural Forest, Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Center, is an insect pest control trap designed to capture the Kashinonagakikuisu beetle, which is responsible for the oak decline (tree mortality), in order to protect forests. Oak decline refers to the damage caused when the Kashinonagakikuisu beetle launches concentrated attacks on trees, leading to their death. There have been reports of incidents where decaying trees fall and injure people due to oak decline. Previously, trunk injection was recommended, but it is no longer advised in recent years due to its lack of effectiveness. Safe pest control methods that do not rely on chemicals, such as insect pest control traps, are gaining attention. The most costly aspect of oak decline countermeasures is the treatment of dead trees, which also involves risks. Moreover, many pest control methods aim to "reduce the number of dead trees." The pest control method using the Kashinonagakikuisu Trap can suppress the occurrence of dead trees, thereby reducing the costs associated with their treatment and lowering overall expenses. Trees installed with the Kashinonagakikuisu Trap capture a significant number of incoming Kashinonaga beetles, making them less susceptible to concentrated attacks and preventing tree death.

basic information
**Features** About half of the trees that have been penetrated by the wood-boring beetle become surviving trees. The wood-boring beetles that penetrate these surviving trees die due to the tree's resistance (sap). On the other hand, in trees that have died from penetration, the wood-boring beetles successfully reproduce, and their offspring cause damage the following year. The control method using wood-boring beetle traps is a way to reduce damage by supporting the trees, and it is a safe control method that does not rely on chemicals that utilize natural forces, and it does not involve heavy labor.
