Restoring the bridge that can no longer be crossed to everyday life as soon as possible! A case that brought great joy to the local community.
In October 2019, Typhoon No. 19 caused the Tama River to swell, eroding the foundation of the Hino Bridge's pier, resulting in a 70 cm subsidence of one of the piers. This led to a bent condition of the bridge section, creating a step in the road surface that rendered it impassable. This project is an emergency restoration work to remove the subsided pier and the bent bridge girder, and to fabricate and install a new girder. Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd. began the construction yard preparation work at the end of November of the same year, and our company started on-site work for the bridge replacement on January 20. Subsequently, the existing bridge was removed at the end of February, the new bridge was installed in March, and the bridge surface work progressed in April, allowing us to lift the traffic ban on May 12, 2020. 【Replacement Procedure】 ■ Since the construction area is in the flowing section, first redirect the river flow towards Hino City to secure the work yard. ■ Then, divide the damaged bridge girders into three parts each and remove them all at once using a large crane. ■ The bridge girders lowered to the yard will be cut into sizes suitable for transportation. ■ The sunken parts of the bridge girders will be divided into five parts using a wire saw and dismantled by a large crusher set up in the high-water area yard. ■ In parallel with the crushing work of the bridge piers, new bridge girders manufactured in the factory will be assembled on-site and installed all at once on P4 and P6 bridge piers using a large crane. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
