Heat exchange experimental apparatus
This is a tabletop experimental device that demonstrates heat transfer (overall heat transfer) between adjacent fluids and verifies the effects of flow rate and temperature difference. The heat exchange experimental device TD360 offers four types of heat exchangers: double-tube, plate, multi-tube cylindrical, and tank jacket (coil) type, with experimental items available as options (sold separately). One of these can be attached to the device for experimentation. The system consists of a hot water system and a cooling system, along with a flow control valve and flow meter, with temperatures and flow rates displayed digitally. The hot water system is composed of a tank with a PID-controlled heater, a pump, and a water level gauge, ensuring stable temperature and flow. The digital display shows the inlet and outlet temperatures of hot and cold water, the temperature of the thermocouples integrated into the heat exchanger (sold separately), and the flow rates of hot and cold water, allowing experiments to be conducted without a PC (sold separately). The four types of heat exchangers (sold separately) have the same heat transfer area (0.02 m²) and wall thickness (1 mm), making it easy to compare each exchanger.

【TD360a Double-tube Heat Exchanger】 This is the simplest type of heat exchanger. It has a double structure consisting of a φ30mm transparent tube and a φ12mm stainless steel tube, with hot water flowing through the inner stainless steel tube and cold water flowing in parallel or counterflow in the outer tube. This heat exchanger connects two sets of the same components with an intermediate pipe, allowing for temperature measurements at two intermediate points and four inlet/outlet points. This setup provides clearer experimental results regarding the temperature changes of the fluid during heat conduction.

TD360b Plate Heat Exchanger This is a heat exchanger separated into five layers by stainless steel plates. Connection ports are provided on the sides of the plates and gaskets to supply hot and cold water, allowing heat to be transferred between the plates. The surfaces of the plates are designed with indentations and other features to enhance thermal conductivity. Plate heat exchangers are compact, making them suitable for applications in products with limited space.

TD360c Multi-tube Cylindrical Heat Exchanger This is a commonly used heat exchanger. It is compact and can be used at high pressures compared to other mechanisms. The outer transparent tube surrounds several small stainless steel tubes, allowing cold water to flow within the transparent tube while hot water flows through the stainless steel tubes, facilitating heat conduction. Additionally, the adjustment plates around the stainless steel tubes control the flow of water.

TD360d Tank Jacket (Coil) Type Heat Exchanger This is a simulation of a heat exchanger widely used in process industries. It allows for experiments on heat conduction by supplying hot water to the tank jacket for use as a tank jacket type heat exchanger, or by supplying hot water to the coil inside the tank for use as a tank coil type heat exchanger. The included thermocouple measures the temperature inside the tank. Additionally, the electric stirrer will clarify how stirring affects heat transfer.
