■Details of Processing Technology Nickel is plated chemically without the use of electricity. It excels in uniformity of film thickness, adherence to complex shapes, and corrosion resistance. By performing heat treatment, it can also be used for applications aimed at improving wear resistance. Compared to electrolytic nickel plating, it has good corrosion and wear resistance. For optical and decorative purposes, the standard specification is coated in a glossy gray-silver color, but it can also be finished in black for optical instruments or decorative purposes. ■Processable Sizes It can handle large products up to 4500L for iron-based substrates and up to 3500L for aluminum-based materials. ■Substrates It can be processed on most metals. With special pre-treatment, it can also be processed on resins, ceramics, and glass. ■Cautions (Defects due to Processing, etc.) After film formation, if no heat treatment is performed, the hardness will be around HV500. By performing heat treatment, the hardness can be increased up to HV1000. The coating is a Ni-P alloy film containing a few percent of phosphorus (P) due to the manufacturing process.
