Generally, it is said that cypress is resistant to termites. Did you know that Japanese cedar, which has natural components equivalent to those of termite-resistant cypress, has extremely strong insect-repelling effects without the use of preservatives? Moreover!!! In fact, Japanese cedar exhibits stronger termite-repelling effects than cypress! Additionally, it is characterized by its high resistance to decay. Japanese cedar, which has high durability and contains components that termites dislike, has been used for pillars and foundations in temples in Japan. Indigenous peoples in America and Canada are said to have used it for canoes and totem poles. While Japanese cedar is such a wonderful material, there are some places where its use is not recommended... That is "floors." Japanese cedar is a softwood. While it has the advantage of being easy to work with for anyone, its softness makes it prone to scratches, making it unsuitable for use in flooring and similar applications. At Sanyu Wood, we adopt natural drying methods to minimize "warping" and "cupping" by drying the wood using natural light and ventilation. The wood has very few knots and a beautiful grain.
