Reducing risks during weeding operations! A case study of the "pipe protection sheet" that easily protects existing cables from accidental cuts.

We would like to introduce a case study on the implementation of the pipe protection sheet "Easy Guard" at Chūnippōn Highway Engineering Nagoya Co., Ltd. Due to a large-scale renewal project by NEXCO Chūnippōn, communication trunk cables that were buried in the expressway were temporarily relocated to the land beside the expressway. Although the cables are covered with FEP piping, the construction period spans several years, and measures and innovations have been taken to prevent accidents where the cables could be accidentally cut along with the FEP piping during regular weeding operations. In response, a cut-resistant woven sheet that can be easily wrapped around the piping was co-developed. This made it easier to attach to the piping and to the bends, thereby reducing risks during weeding operations.
