In 2021, the issue of metal foreign substances in vaccines came to light, highlighting the challenges of metal foreign matter removal not only in the food industry but also in the manufacturing processes of pharmaceuticals. According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health, there were 4,440 food complaints in the fiscal year 2020.
