Elbows are specified in the JIS standard as types of shapes such as 90° elbows, 45° elbows, and 180° elbows. In cases where the design of the piping cannot accommodate those angles, the JIS standard recognizes "special angle elbows," which can be manufactured at special angles as needed for piping design. Elbows manufactured at special intermediate angles such as 60°, 30°, and 135° are referred to as "special angle (end angle) elbows." The special angle θE(L) and θE(S) is defined as an angle less than 180° excluding 45°, 90°, and 180°, and is determined by the orderer's specifications.
