The "Optical Power Logger" is a system that automatically measures the attenuation of optical cables. As background, we were considering the introduction of an automation system and the construction of a robust system that can operate 24 hours a day, using existing measuring equipment without purchasing new facilities. This system combines an optical power meter with a multi-channel multiplexer to record the characteristics of optical cables over long periods while simultaneously recording the temperature of the test environment using a thermometer.
