"Connecting thoughts, changing the flow" – possibilities expand from just one joint!
The fittings mainly referred to as elbows serve the purpose of changing the direction of fluid (gas or liquid) flow. Depending on the usage, they are classified into three types based on the angle of bend: 45°, 90°, and 180°. Additionally, fittings known as tees and wyes have the function of branching or merging the flow of fluid. Nipples and sockets are used to connect fittings of the same diameter or to extend lengths, while reducers and bushings connect fittings of different diameters, allowing for the expansion or reduction of pipe size. Fittings such as caps and plugs function to stop the flow of fluid by sealing the ends of pipes. Fittings also have other roles, such as transmitting mechanical power and absorbing vibrations or thermal expansion.
