Polishing acrylic glass with a robot. Automatic pressure correction, high-quality finish!
FerRobotics ACF-K
With high-speed automatic correction of contact force, industrial robots are endowed with human-like senses (tactile perception), automating polishing and grinding processes with the best quality! Dramatically improving management challenges and productivity.
FerRobotics Compliant Robot Technology GmbH has developed the UR+ model ACF-K using its proprietary ACT technology. It allows for easy setup on the teaching pendant for Universal Robots UR10, UR10e, and UR16e. The end effector (ACF) utilizing ACT technology automatically compensates for changes in dimensional tolerances, curved shapes, and non-planar surfaces by rapidly adjusting the stroke extension and contraction, ensuring constant contact with the workpiece at the set force. This technology increases the speed at which devices and robots can operate, thereby enhancing processing speed and improving cycle times. Additionally, in robot polishing and grinding, the ACF controls the pressing force through the stroke extension and contraction, eliminating the need to move the heavy robot arm for adjustments, which further assists in improving processing speed. Furthermore, it automatically compensates for tool load variations due to gravity changes at different robot angles, maintaining a consistent pressing force from any angle and enabling a finish without processing inconsistencies.

We provide the best solutions for robotic polishing and grinding, equipping industrial robots with a sense of touch using our patented Active Compliant Technology (ACT), enabling greater flexibility, reliability, and profitability in manufacturing environments than ever before. The ACT, optimized for robots, automatically measures the required pressing force, instantly compensates for complex surface shapes, and allows for consistent processing with a constant pressing force. It also responds to sudden opposing forces, such as when the target workpiece moves. As a standard tool and as a custom package product tailored to special requirements, ACT clearly contributes to efficiency improvements in production processes that have previously been impossible to automate. By confirming the performance of our ACT solutions, you will immediately feel the results. It brings overwhelming effectiveness to automated polishing and grinding (polishing, sanding, grinding, deburring, buffing, mirror finishing, etc.).
