Complete automation of painting repair polishing requiring ultra-fine force control using a double-header machine.
FerRobotics AOK403
Automating the repair polishing of paint finishes that require highly skilled techniques. Significant reduction in cycle time using a double header with a high-speed autonomous correction control system for contact force.
FerRobotics' Active Compliant Technology automatically corrects the "difference" in contact pressure (force) that occurs during polishing and grinding processes, which require skilled techniques, at high speed. This technology allows for consistent polishing/grinding at the set contact force, unaffected by variations in processing speed or gravitational load differences due to angles. Using the patented ACT in the end effector (ACF), it quickly and automatically adjusts to changes in the dimensional tolerances, curved shapes, and non-flat surfaces of the workpiece by rapidly extending and retracting the stroke, maintaining contact with the workpiece at the set force. With a double-header design, it enables both sanding and polishing processes to be performed with a single unit, significantly improving cycle times. Additionally, in robotic polishing and grinding, the ACF controls the contact pressure by adjusting the stroke itself, eliminating the need to move the heavy robotic arm for corrections, which further assists in improving processing speed. Moreover, it automatically compensates for tool load variations caused by gravity changes due to the robot's angle, ensuring a consistent contact pressure from any angle and enabling a finish without processing inconsistencies.

We provide the best solutions for robotic polishing and robotic grinding by equipping industrial robots with a sense of touch using our patented Active Compliant Technology (ACT), enabling greater flexibility, reliability, and profitability in manufacturing environments than ever before. The ACT optimized for robots automatically measures the required pressing force, instantly self-corrects for complex surface shapes, and allows for processing with a constant pressing force. For example, it can also respond to sudden opposing forces, such as when the target workpiece moves. As a standard tool and as a custom package product that meets special requirements, ACT clearly contributes to efficiency improvements in production processes where automation has previously been unattainable. By confirming the performance of our ACT solutions, you will immediately feel the results. It brings overwhelming effectiveness to automated polishing and grinding (polishing, sanding, grinding, deburring, buffing, mirror finishing, etc.).
