Oxygen molecules have a smaller molecular diameter than nitrogen molecules → utilizing this fact → oxygen molecules pass through → nitrogen molecules do not pass → prepare a molecular sieve with precise pore diameters → fill two adsorption towers → send oil-free compressed air from an oil-free air compressor into one adsorption tower → only oxygen is selectively adsorbed → the nitrogen that is not adsorbed is discharged → switch the airflow direction to the other adsorption tower using a solenoid valve → the first adsorption tower returns to atmospheric pressure → at that time, the selectively adsorbed oxygen is released → repeating this operation with the two adsorption towers results in the separation of oxygen and nitrogen (see oxygen concentrator). - Components of air: 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.04% CO2.
