In 1921 (the 10th year of the Taisho era), Hasegawa Manji Shoten was established in Tomioka 2-chome, Koto Ward, Tokyo. Nowadays, hardwoods are the mainstream for construction materials and furniture, but in the early Showa era, softwoods were the primary building materials. Contrary to the common practices of the industry, the founder, Hasegawa Manji, dedicated efforts to the development of hardwoods for specialized uses such as shipbuilding, vehicles, musical instruments, and furniture, successfully bringing these to fruition. This pioneering demand for hardwoods became the most significant factor in the later development of Hasegawa Manji as a leader in the lumber industry. Our joy, which began as a timber wholesaler, lies in providing comfortable homes and lifestyles to society. To further realize this joy, we aim to tackle the following points with foresight in "Shuuki" and a commitment to building trust with our customers: enhancing the distribution of timber and building materials, which are the foundation of home building, developing new technologies and services, creating truly valuable and rich living spaces, and entering entirely new markets with fresh and dynamic approaches. We strive to discern the essence of our industry, respond promptly to the needs of the times, and provide new value to our customers.
