Technical Data: Metal Analysis Pretreatment of Rice and Rice Ears Using DEENA2

Fully automated analysis of metals such as cadmium in rice (brown rice and white rice) and rice ears, including the addition of nitric acid and perchloric acid, heating decomposition, cooling, and sample preparation!

Regarding the cadmium contained in rice, the standard limit was previously set at 1 ppm (mg/kg), but in April 2010, a revision was made to the standards for food and additives, lowering the limit for cadmium and its compounds in rice (both brown and white rice) to 0.4 ppm (mg/kg). Traditionally, wet digestion methods using nitric acid, sulfuric acid, or perchloric acid were employed; however, these methods were time-consuming and made it difficult to process multiple samples quickly. Therefore, we examined the automatic pretreatment of rice (both brown and white) and rice ears using the nitric acid reflux method with DEENA2, which allows for fully automated operations such as acid addition, stirring, and dilution under PC control. ■ Acid addition heating pretreatment ■ Reagent addition ■ Cooling ■ Dilution ■ Prevention of human exposure to acid *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
