There are two types of rare earth magnets: neodymium magnets (Nd-Fe-B) and samarium-cobalt magnets (Sm-Co). Neodymium magnets are said to create the strongest magnetic field in the current market. Depending on the application, they can be processed into various shapes such as round, square, and ring types. They have excellent mechanical strength but are prone to rust, so they are surface-treated, and generally, their use is limited to temperatures below 80°C.
