[Legionella Bacteria Case] Water Purification Device 'Mecasera Device'
Mecasera device (water quality purification device)
Introduction to the Legionella bacteria disinfection test using Mekasera water, with a demonstration unit available for loan and a collection of case studies provided.
The "Legionella bacteria" are gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria that inhabit soil and freshwater in the natural environment, possessing a single flagellum at one end of the cell body, which gives them motility. We adjusted Legionella pneumophila type 1 to 10,000 CFU/100mL and conducted an "experiment on the disinfection of Legionella bacteria using Mekacera water." As a result, when Mekacera balls were acted upon in the presence of residual chlorine at concentrations of 0.1ppm to 0.2ppm, the number of Legionella bacteria gradually decreased, and after 24 hours, no viable bacteria were detected. The main business of SGM Corporation, the "Mecasera System," was developed in 1983 through joint research with Tohoku University. The core technology of this system is the superoxide ion generation method, which is aimed at water quality purification treatment of waste oil and other substances, as well as deodorization, water quality purification, and sludge reduction of sewage and domestic wastewater in agricultural communities and sewer systems. The water purification quality is remarkably stable and low-cost, requiring no modifications to existing equipment, and it can be used semi-permanently as a reliable and robust product. For over 30 years since its launch, there have been numerous achievements, including local governments (agricultural communities), major companies in Japan, and various foreign countries.
