Technical Public Relations Magazine i-net: [Column] 10 Years of Sanriku Reconstruction and Green Recovery

Introducing a column on the 10th anniversary of the Sanriku Reconstruction and green recovery.

We would like to introduce a column from the technical newsletter "i-net Vol.58." Ten years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake. The government has stated that the hard aspects of reconstruction projects, such as land development, housing construction, and the restoration of transportation networks, are largely complete and are in the final stages. However, as support for disaster victims and ongoing assistance are still necessary, the period from fiscal year 2021 will be designated as the "Second Phase of Reconstruction and Revitalization," with a focus on soft measures. Among the efforts made so far, "Green Reconstruction," which incorporates environmental conservation, is being promoted. This aims to pass on the rich natural environment of Sanriku and the community life supported by it to future generations, while learning from the blessings and threats of nature, and striving for reconstruction that utilizes these elements.
