The reason why castings such as gray cast iron (FC material) are selected as materials is believed to be due to their high degree of freedom in shaping and the cost savings during mass production. Even for such castings, when strength and wear resistance are required, ductile cast iron (FCD material) may be used. Furthermore, when using tools made from FCD material in environments where the wear conditions are even harsher, enhancing the effectiveness of the tool can be achieved by making only the working area from cemented carbide. In such cases, the brazing processing technology of castings and cemented carbide is utilized. However, there are also technical challenges associated with brazing cemented carbide and castings.
