Cutting-edge crack measurement system Shin-Kumonosu
Shin Kumonosu
A new technology that improves survey accuracy and enables adaptation to a wider range by combining the crack measurement system "KUMONOS" with photo correction technology.
Recently, in addition to traditional sketch-based surveys, a number of photographic survey techniques have emerged. Determining the shooting size in photographic surveys is the most crucial aspect; however, the size at which cracks are captured varies significantly not only with the width of the cracks but also with the surface color. The color of the surface fluctuates due to various factors such as the material of the concrete and the amount of sunlight, but existing technologies could only determine the shooting size through theoretical calculations. As a result, there were issues such as cracks not being captured, leading to survey omissions, and low accuracy in crack width measurements. However, with the measurement technology of Shin-KUMONOS, using KUMONOS allows for accurate measurement of crack widths from a distance on-site, enabling surveys at optimal photographic sizes. This also allows for deriving the most suitable photographic size (i.e., number of photos) in terms of cost and survey time, making it possible to conduct the most effective and high-quality surveys. In crack surveys, where there are numerous factors that cannot be calculated, such as material types (e.g., aggregates), completion dates, survey timing, and the amount of sunlight on the day, using Shin-KUMONOS technology enables the accumulation of accurate survey data.

basic information
【Features】 ○ Capable of safely measuring cracks wider than 0.2mm from a distance of 120m → Cracks wider than 0.2mm can be measured from a maximum distance of 140m. This allows for remote inspections, ensuring the safety of the surveyors. ○ Prevention of oversight in all visible damages → By tracing damages from photographs, it is possible to conduct checks on a PC, preventing any oversight during inspections. ○ Accurate investigation of aging deterioration with a positional accuracy within ±3mm → Even when measuring at a 60° angle from 50m away during photo correction, the accuracy can be maintained within ±3mm. ○ Creation of faithful current condition diagrams from a distance → Using the angle measurement method by KUMONOS, it is possible to accurately measure the corners and edges of structures from afar. ○ Improved accuracy of crack width extraction from corrected photographs → By measuring crack widths at several points with KUMONOS and using those values as a reference for calibration with an electronic crack scale, the measurement accuracy of crack widths has been enhanced. ○ Significant reduction in on-site days is possible → While the number of on-site days may vary depending on site conditions, an average measurement of approximately 2,000 square meters per day is achievable.

Our company was founded in 1995 with the aim of supporting the recovery from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The company name is derived from our unique measuring device, "KUMONOS," which can quickly and accurately measure 0.2mm cracks from a distance of 100 meters. In 1998, we were the first in Japan to introduce a 3D laser scanner, and since then, we have developed a 3D measurement business and equipment introduction business to promote 3D laser scanning technology. Over the past 25 years, we have accumulated over 2,500 measurement achievements and approximately 300 equipment introductions, establishing ourselves as a leading company in 3D laser scanning in Japan. Our technology has received numerous ministerial awards from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, including the Japan Manufacturing Award. Additionally, our technology was introduced to world leaders at the G20 Osaka Summit, receiving high praise both domestically and internationally. Moving forward, we will continue to implement the latest technologies backed by our high technical capabilities and provide DX solutions across various fields.
