With the spread of aerial laser surveying and Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS), there is a growing demand to handle vast amounts of 3D point cloud data, exceeding 100 million points, on PCs as comfortably as possible, and to filter (classify) raw measurement data by features such as the ground surface, trees, and buildings.
