"Enabling vibration control and reinforcement with heat-resistant FRP" Currently, fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) primarily consist of carbon fibers and 180°C curing epoxy resins, and until now, there have been no high-strength resin fibers that do not degrade at 180°C curing. The heat-resistant polyimide resin fiber IMIDETEX, which can withstand temperatures above 250°C, can be used for FRP. It compensates for the brittleness of carbon fibers and absorbs vibrations and impacts, enabling the design of new FRP materials that combine high strength and impact resistance. Additionally, by curing IMIDETEX with I.S.T's polyimide resin for FRP, a new FRP made entirely of polyimide resin can also be realized. For example, it expands the new possibilities of FRP in sports equipment such as golf shafts, as well as in aircraft engine blades and heat protection for automotive batteries.
