A compact ultrasonic flow direction and velocity meter capable of measuring wave direction (wave direction, wave height) and multi-layer flow direction and velocity. It also allows for real-time computation output for long-term monitoring applications.
AWAC is a wave measurement device that uses ultrasonic Doppler technology, making it ideal for simple wave observation (deriving wave parameters). It is also equipped with traditional multi-layer current velocity measurement functions (ADCP), allowing for the measurement of both waves and current conditions. For more advanced and flexible measurements of waves and current conditions, we recommend the multifunctional ADCP "Signature" series, which includes AWAC's wave measurement capabilities. AWAC emits sound waves from a transducer located at its center towards the sea surface to directly measure the water surface elevation, calculating wave height and its period. By emitting ultrasonic waves from three transducers, it measures the near-surface current velocity (caused by the circular motion of waves) to derive the wave direction spectrum. By using ultrasonic technology to measure the sea surface, accurate wave height and direction measurements can be achieved even from the seabed at depths of up to 100 meters, which is difficult with pressure gauges alone. Utilizing a uniquely developed SUV method, accurate wave measurements can be achieved even when mounted on a mid-water float (patented). By using a mid-water float in areas deeper than 100 meters, wave measurements can be conducted as long as the main device is kept at a depth of 100 meters or shallower.

basic information
There are three types of lineups according to the maximum measurement range (distance), determined by the acoustic frequency of each model. (The following are model names: maximum measurement range) AWAC 1MHz: 30m (Weight in air 6.1kg, underwater 2.9kg, diameter 21cm, height 17.5cm) AWAC 600kHz: 50m (Weight in air 6.2kg, underwater 2.9kg, diameter 21cm, height 20.3cm) AWAC 400kHz: 100m (Weight in air 7.3kg, underwater 3.6kg, diameter 30.6cm, height 20.3cm) Battery case (Without battery: weight in air approximately 5.4kg, underwater 0.6kg, diameter 19cm, height 15.2cm) Underwater, it is installed on a stand or similar structure to be oriented vertically upwards, while supplying power from the attached battery case and performing timer measurements. In addition to long-term mooring measurements using internal memory, real-time measurements via wired communication are also supported as standard. If the equipment is to be operated continuously for monitoring purposes, it is possible to add a function that automatically performs wave calculations internally (Prolog). Only the results of the wave calculations will be output.

Company information
Nortek Japan LLC (Nortek Japan) is the Japanese subsidiary of Nortek AS (headquartered in Oslo, Norway), which manufactures ultrasonic Doppler sensors. We handle the domestic sales of the flow direction and velocity meters, wave meters, and DVL (underwater navigation sensors) produced by the company. Additionally, Nortek Japan offers regular inspections of the products sold (including operational verification work, issuance of inspection reports, and replacement of consumables). Since the work is carried out domestically, we can shorten the return period and reduce overseas transportation costs*. Nortek's products have over 20 years of domestic sales experience and are utilized by environmental survey companies and research institutions both domestically and internationally for research and investigation purposes. Services offered by Nortek Japan LLC: - Product sales - Regular inspections (conducted domestically, including issuance of inspection reports and replacement of consumables) - Sales of various consumable parts, including drive batteries - Various repair services* - Technical support and usage suggestions *For repairs, inspections, and sensor calibration work that require precise inspection equipment, the work will be carried out at the headquarters factory in Norway.
