A new ADCP equipped with a scientific fish finder sensor (frequency 70~120 kHz)! It can measure both flow and biomass with a single device.
The Signature100 is a completely new ADCP equipped with both a flow direction and velocity profiler (with a measurement range of 400m) and a scientific fish finder sensor (echo sounder). For example, when focusing on the relationship between the behavior of fish and microorganisms (such as krill) in the ecosystem and ocean currents, it was previously necessary to measure acoustic reflections (echograms) and flow direction and velocity data with separate devices. The Signature100 allows for the acquisition of both types of data with just one device. Specifications of the scientific fish finder sensor: Beam width: 15° (70 kHz), 8.7° (120 kHz) Monochromatic pulse: 70kHz, 90kHz, 120kHz Frequency chirping: center frequency 100kHz (BW50%, 70kHz–120kHz) Vertical data spatial resolution: 0.375–4m (1800 data points) Pulse length: 0.5–6ms Resolution: 0.01dB Dynamic range: 130dB

basic information
The new AD2CP platform allows for flexible timer settings for multiple measurements such as average flow velocity and echo sounder (patented technology), enabling the acquisition of high-density information in a short period of time. Models without scientific fish finder sensors are also available. When the sensor is not included, it can be used as a multi-layer flow direction and velocity meter with a 400m range. *The inclusion or exclusion of the scientific fish finder sensor is a choice made at the time of order, and installation or removal after purchase is not possible. By using an AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System, optional), the displacement of the measurement position (cell position) caused by the device's motion is corrected in real-time. This allows for more accurate measurements of flow direction and velocity in environments where motion is expected. It is effective in areas like estuaries, where flow velocity can vary significantly with water depth. With Ethernet communication capabilities, vast amounts of data, reaching several GB, can be transferred to a PC in a short time (approximately 6 minutes per GB). This reduces the time from recovery to redeployment. Other features: - Equipped with an LED lamp for operation confirmation - Both Serial and Ethernet communication are standard - Body battery case shapes: 3 types (no battery, 1 battery, 2 batteries)

Applications/Examples of results
Uses: - Understanding of microorganisms such as copepods in water - Research on the diurnal vertical migration of plankton - Study of upwelling and downwelling currents - Research on internal waves using acoustic reflection of particles - Facilitation of observations using surface buoys (AHRS sensor) - Measurement of mid-range multi-layer flow direction and velocity
Detailed information
-
Upper section: Echo gram, middle section: Upstream and downstream velocity, lower section: Horizontal flow velocity. Conventional ADCP only provided data for the middle and lower sections. From the high-resolution data in the upper section, we can observe the behavior of plankton that move diurnally and the presence of suspended particles drifting near the seabed. The relationship between flow velocity and these factors can also be confirmed.
-
An example of a reaction thought to be suspended particles and microorganisms indicating a complex underwater structure confirmed by an echogram.

Company information
Nortek Japan LLC (Nortek Japan) is the Japanese subsidiary of Nortek AS (headquartered in Oslo, Norway), which manufactures ultrasonic Doppler sensors. We handle the domestic sales of the flow direction and velocity meters, wave meters, and DVL (underwater navigation sensors) produced by the company. Additionally, Nortek Japan offers regular inspections of the products sold (including operational verification work, issuance of inspection reports, and replacement of consumables). Since the work is carried out domestically, we can shorten the return period and reduce overseas transportation costs*. Nortek's products have over 20 years of domestic sales experience and are utilized by environmental survey companies and research institutions both domestically and internationally for research and investigation purposes. Services offered by Nortek Japan LLC: - Product sales - Regular inspections (conducted domestically, including issuance of inspection reports and replacement of consumables) - Sales of various consumable parts, including drive batteries - Various repair services* - Technical support and usage suggestions *For repairs, inspections, and sensor calibration work that require precise inspection equipment, the work will be carried out at the headquarters factory in Norway.
