■ Automobile Manufacturer Adopted for inspection equipment at a company that manufactures parts for human contact in a major automobile manufacturer's group in the Chubu region. The inspection equipment for the component units uses the PC-9801, and many self-designed expansion boards are also utilized, with a history of being unable to replace them with boards for Windows. The USB-CBUS was used to operate the existing boards on Windows via USB, completing the adaptation. This was a replacement for a system that has been in operation for over 30 years. ■ Fire Alarm Manufacturer A fire alarm manufacturer in the Tohoku region decided to replace their system to avoid business continuity risks associated with the inspection equipment and testing devices for heat and smoke detectors. Both notebook PCs and desktop PCs using the PC-9801 are in operation. One to three expansion boards are used per system, and the software for replacing the boards with Windows-compatible ones operates without issues. ■ Semiconductor Manufacturer Used PC/FC-9801 for control devices such as etching machines, film deposition devices, and handlers at a wafer manufacturing company.
