"Rodman" is a new original tie-down system that replaces traditional hold-down hardware to prevent the overturning of shear walls, responding to the high-strength requirements of shear walls in mid-rise buildings. In wooden mid-rise buildings, enormous uplift forces can occur on shear walls, which may exceed the capacity of existing hold-down hardware.
