The Three S Method is a water leakage prevention measure for tunnels using elastic materials. It was selected as one of the eight methods for preventing water leakage at the junctions (horizontal joints) between the arch concrete and side wall concrete during the construction of the Seikan Tunnel. **Features** - It addresses leakage at joints and cracks, allowing for curved construction along the cracks. - It uses chloroprene-based independent foam rubber as the water guiding (filling) material, which can follow the expansion and contraction of the structure, eliminating re-leakage. - The rubber has a low thermal conductivity, which helps suppress freezing. - The surface is reinforced with epoxy resin, eliminating concerns about bulging or detachment due to back pressure, and reducing rubber degradation. - It finishes flush with the tunnel's inner space, not infringing on construction limits. - The standard types are available in four variations: 70, 100, 120, and 150, allowing for selection based on site conditions. - It is durable and economical. *Upon request, we provide responsible construction starting from investigation and design.
