If obstacles are present during excavation, it is possible to detect obstacles approximately 2 meters ahead of the tunneling machine. Additionally, this method allows for ground improvement from inside the tunneling machine both before and after the obstacle. Since cutting through obstacles takes time, the surrounding ground may loosen, potentially affecting nearby underground installations and causing subsidence or uplift on the surface, making ground improvement necessary.
