It was used for waterproofing on rooftops to reduce the weight of high-rise buildings, raising floor slabs on each floor, and embedding piping in mechanical rooms. Subsequently, the lightweight properties of aerated concrete attracted attention from various fields, leading to its adoption in numerous civil engineering projects, including the Tōkaidō Shinkansen construction.
