The die sets and die holders for forging molds are from Kusunoki Seiko in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
Kusunoki Seiko Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures die holders for forging press molds (tools used to fix and detach molds for making automotive parts on press machines). Kusunoki Seiko's die holders focus on the following points: 1) Accurate concentricity of upper and lower molds 2) Strong and secure fixation of the mold 3) Quick mold exchange We respond to our customers' needs with these priorities in mind. Additionally, die holders, which significantly impact the precision of forged products, can suffer serious damage to the main body, guide pins, and bushes after years of use in harsh environments, making it difficult to maintain the precision of forged products. At Kusunoki Seiko, we carefully review each component of the die holder and provide optimal repair and overhaul advice. Although "SKT4," which is generally not suitable for welding, is often used for the main body, we select the most appropriate welding rod based on the location and condition of any cracks and perform build-up repairs. Looking back at recent years of hot die forging, since the mid to late 1960s, the efforts of domestic press manufacturers have led to the advancement of domestic production of presses, which have steadily become more widespread. Naturally, die holders for die forging presses have also developed alongside the proliferation of die forging presses and the demands of users. However, with the intensification of cost reduction competition, the shift from mass production of a few varieties to small-batch production of many varieties, and the automation of die forging presses, there has been a growing call for the reduction of die changeover time to minimize downtime. In response, Kusunoki Seiko Co., Ltd. re-evaluated the structure of die holders based on the accumulated knowledge of hot forging and mold technology at Howa Forging Co., Ltd. We pioneered the use of SKT4 material for the main body, striving to maintain strength and precision, and supplied it to Toyota Motor Corporation. Additionally, we improved the traditional monolithic structure seen in cast steel to a compact type using a block-building method, and in 1982, we developed a single setup method for die changeover using a combination of mold transport devices, which we have provided to our customers. Moving forward, we are committed to responding to various customer requests as a "concierge" of the forging industry, not only with die holders but also by incorporating modifications and improvements based on our track record and customer evaluations.
