Clean and dry the specific gravity cup thoroughly, and measure the mass of the empty specific gravity cup at room temperature. Fill the specific gravity cup with paint at a test temperature of 23±2°C. Cover the specific gravity cup while keeping the overflow orifice open. Be careful to ensure that no bubbles form inside the specific gravity cup. Remove any paint that overflows from the overflow orifice using tissue paper or similar. Measure the mass of the specific gravity cup filled with paint. Subtract the mass of the empty specific gravity cup (g) from the mass of the filled specific gravity cup (g), and divide that value by the volume of the specific gravity cup (ml) to calculate the density (g/ml).
