We will check the pigment dispersion of paints and similar materials.
It is used to evaluate the dispersion degree of pigments (such as functional pigments, coloring pigments, rust-inhibiting pigments, and extenders) in paints, inks, and related products. This standard applies to all types of liquid paints and related products. Insufficient pigment dispersion can lead to roughness on the paint film surface and poor gloss, resulting in decreased paint film performance. Fill the grooves of the particle gauge with paint and scrape it off with a scraper. At some point during the gradual shallowing of the grooves, the pigment particles will become visible. The depth at which the particles appear is used to determine the dispersion degree. It is widely used not only in the paint, ink, and pigment industries but also in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. The main body and scraper are made of high-hardness stainless steel. The gauge body has two grooves. There is also a single-groove particle gauge available in the lineup. Additionally, we offer the scraper, which is a consumable item, for sale separately.

basic information
Pour a sufficient amount of paint into the deeper end of the groove, allowing it to slightly overflow from the groove. Hold the scraper between your thumbs and other fingers, positioning it so that the long edge of the scraper is parallel to the width of the gauge and the blade tip contacts the deeper end of the gauge's groove. While keeping the scraper flush with the surface of the gauge, pull it perpendicularly to the long edge of the groove across the surface of the gauge at a uniform speed, taking 1 to 2 seconds to reach a groove depth of 0. Observe by shining light at an angle between 20° and 30° within 3 seconds after finishing the pull.
