This is a concrete rebar corrosion inspection device that can detect the corrosion state of rebar in concrete, compliant with ASTM C876.
Corrosion of rebar is greatly influenced by the quality and structure of the concrete. Ideally, rebar is covered by high-quality hardened concrete and is protected by the alkaline components within the surrounding concrete material. Conversely, this protection from alkaline components can be compromised by the carbonation effect of chlorides. When the protection from alkaline components weakens, the rebar is exposed to oxygen and moisture, making it more susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, the early detection of this corrosion becomes very important.
