We support the enhancement of tsunami measures through large-scale simulations.
Research at the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory (HWRL) of Oregon State University, part of the George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation Tsunami Research Facility (NEES TRF), influences how people interact with the ocean, including where they live, how they maintain coastal ecosystems, and how they generate energy. Over the past 40 years, MTS and HWRL/NEES TRF have worked on the expansion of several research facilities, with MTS playing a crucial role in the expansion of each facility, from equipment planning to hardware and software specifications, system integration, and ongoing maintenance. As NEES TRF continues to improve the scale and sophistication of testing facilities, engineers around the world are able to gain unprecedented insights into wave dynamics and assess the potential impacts of marine events on humans, which also aids in developing more resilient structures and more effective evacuation plans. MTS Japan, Inc. is the Japanese subsidiary of the American engineering company MTS Systems Corporation, which specializes in various testing equipment. For over 40 years, we have provided engineering consulting services to users in Japan, delivering earthquake simulation systems, automotive durability testing systems, aircraft fatigue testing equipment, and various material testing devices to public institutions, universities, and private companies in our country. All of these systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of these systems and are indispensable when it comes to "manufacturing" products. MTS Japan, Inc. was established in June 1972 with a 50% investment from MTS Systems Corporation. In May 1975, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, and in 1981, we established the Nagoya branch (now the West Japan branch) to strengthen our sales and support structure, which continues to this day. Through collaboration with MTS, we achieve design optimization, productivity improvement, and a reduction in the time to market for our customers' products.
