First construction technology examination certification obtained for permeable materials: Inorganic impregnated concrete surface protective material for scaling.
Concrete structures in cold areas and mountainous regions, which are subjected to freeze-thaw cycles, experience micro-cracking, scaling, and pop-outs due to the repeated freezing expansion and melting of moisture within the concrete, leading to deterioration from the surface. Since the regulation of spike tires, the amount of deicing agents such as sodium chloride has increased. As a result, concrete structures in coastal areas and regions where deicing agents are applied are showing visible scaling damage. Furthermore, the deterioration of concrete structures due to scaling not only detracts from aesthetics but, if significantly advanced, can lead to reduced load-bearing capacity due to decreased concrete cross-section and increased risk of rebar corrosion due to reduced cover thickness and concrete weakening, significantly lowering the durability of the concrete. Scaling countermeasures could only be managed through the control of concrete mix. "T&C Corrosion Prevention" can implement scaling countermeasures for both new and existing structures. Construction will be carried out by members of the T&C Corrosion Prevention Method Association nationwide. T&C Corrosion Prevention Method Association website: http://http://nikko-tca.com/

basic information
"T&C Anti-Corrosion" is a method that suppresses scaling deterioration due to freeze damage by applying two types of impregnants with different properties to the surface of concrete. First, by applying a silicate-based impregnant to the surface of the concrete, insoluble substances mainly composed of calcium silicate, generated through ion exchange reactions with calcium ions in the concrete, fill the capillary voids and densify the surface concrete composition. Next, by applying a silicon-based impregnant, a durable water-repellent layer is formed on the surface of the concrete. As a result, compared to a single application, it becomes possible to further fill the pores in the concrete with inorganic insoluble substances. At the same time, the surface layer of the concrete is reinforced, improving resistance to peeling stress and suppressing deterioration. It has eight features: 1. Highly durable materials 2. Transparency that does not change appearance 3. Easy-to-apply surface coating material 4. Penetrating material that does not cause peeling 5. Five times the waterproofing of untreated concrete 6. Scaling prevention in chloride environments 7. Safety without harmful substances such as heavy metals 8. Versatility for deterioration measures applicable to both new and existing structures.

Nikko Corporation has switched the raw materials for its paints from petroleum to quartz and is developing inorganic agents centered around its "room temperature enamel coating" technology, expanding into a wide range of markets from electronic components to architectural and civil engineering structures. With the development of civilization and industrial activities, our lives have become richer. However, behind that richness, issues such as the burden on the natural environment, environmental pollution due to industrial waste disposal, and global warming have become problems on a worldwide scale. Nikko believes that "inorganic paints" can reduce the burden on the natural environment, protect people's health and safety, and enable a reduction in life cycle costs, and is committed to product development in this area.
