I believe many companies have traditionally used thermocouples and heat-sensitive wires for fire prediction measures, but with the recent trend of larger and more widespread factory equipment, the costs for wiring, installation work, and maintenance after operation have often increased. Our system allows for extensive temperature measurement and monitoring by deploying a single optical fiber sensor with a diameter of a few millimeters as the measurement target. Conventional measuring devices often require electricity for measurement, which can necessitate explosion-proof measures in some cases, but by using optical fibers, it is possible to implement a fundamentally safe solution. Recently, with the liberalization of electricity, there has been significant attention on the use of our technology for abnormal monitoring of fuel transport equipment associated with the construction of power plants. In addition to the commonly envisioned linear fibers, we also utilize specialized sensors through custom processing for temperature measurement in confined spaces or short spans, catering to various applications. This is a system where the optical fiber itself acts as a sensor, measuring a continuous temperature distribution along the optical fiber, enabling extensive heat monitoring, fire detection, and temperature condition recording. Since temperature measurement is done using light, there is no need for explosion-proof treatment of the sensors, and it is possible to achieve temperature distribution measurement over distances of several tens of kilometers at a cost that is incomparable to conventional methods. By passing data and signals to higher-level systems, it can respond to various applications, such as triggering alarms. It is also suitable for other research applications and rental use in specific spots.
