Embankment materials utilizing construction-generated soil (such as river dredging and excavation soil) (typically for levees).

The test results and other information regarding the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's new technology utilization "Theme Setting Type (Technology Recruitment)" were published in March 2021, and the heavy metal adsorption JiT mat was selected as a "decontamination technology." The construction method using the heavy metal adsorption JiT mat was evaluated for its simplicity in laying down ready-made mats without heavy machinery, making it a useful measure against heavy metals leaching from construction-generated soil, leading to shortened construction periods, cost reductions, improved embankment stability, and stabilized quality. Since its development in 2015, the JiT mat has been used nationwide, from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, in public works such as tunnel construction and dredging, as well as in various environmental conservation efforts by private companies, preventing the spread of contamination by adsorbing heavy metals from leachate and other sources. We will continue to provide technologies and materials that can be useful in various fields.
