The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation has begun a demonstration test of waterproof sheets utilizing radiative cooling material "SPACECOOL" to reduce air conditioning energy consumption at Tokyo Metropolitan Bus depots this summer.

SPACECOOL Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation and Longseal Industrial Co., Ltd., has commenced a joint demonstration test of the SPACECOOL waterproof sheet (tentative name) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation's Shinagawa Bus Operating Station, aimed at reducing air conditioning energy consumption at the Toei Bus operating stations during the summer. This is the first joint demonstration of the SPACECOOL waterproof sheet in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation has faced the challenge of significantly increased electricity consumption at its operating stations due to air conditioning use during the summer each year. In this context, they have focused on the radiative cooling material "SPACECOOL," which can provide cooling with zero energy under direct sunlight, leading to the decision to conduct a joint demonstration test at the Shinagawa Bus Operating Station to address the aforementioned issue.
