Our company will hold a seminar on "Rock Weathering Acceleration Technology for the Negative Emission Market." There are only a quarter of a century left until the target year of 2050 for achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. It is extremely difficult to offset CO2 emissions from hard-to-decarbonize sectors solely through the large-scale introduction of renewable energy; thus, Negative Emission Technologies (NETs) are essential. One of the technologies for directly removing CO2 that has been released into the atmosphere is weathering acceleration (ERW), which is expected to be implemented in Japan due to its lower water and land use compared to other technologies, as well as the widespread distribution of natural rocks containing Ca/Mg within the country. This seminar will elaborate on the technological trends both domestically and internationally, focusing on the A-ERW project being implemented as part of the Moonshot Goal 4, as well as the methodologies for measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) that are essential for clear carbon accounting and crediting. Our company will hold a seminar on the "Battery Storage Business." Since the amendment of the Electricity Business Act, which positioned grid-connected battery storage as part of the power generation business, there has been a vibrant movement in the business of installing and operating battery storage on the grid side. Our company will hold a seminar titled "Current Status and Challenges of Cancer Screening, Future Prospects" by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. In 2023, the "Fourth Basic Plan for Promoting Cancer Control" was approved by the Cabinet. Within this plan, the current status and challenges of cancer screening, as well as measures to improve "screening rates," "quality control," and "implementation of evidence-based cancer screening," have been summarized. Medical devices are regulated in their manufacturing and sales under the "Act on Securing Quality, Efficacy and Safety of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices." Since 2014, standalone software intended for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases has also been subject to regulation as medical devices, leading to many software medical devices receiving manufacturing and sales approvals. Our company will hold a seminar titled "Fujishi: Initiatives for Water PPP Introduction in Sewerage Projects." In the revised PPP/PFI promotion action plan of 2023, Water PPP, a new public-private partnership model, has been defined, and regarding national funding support for the reconstruction of sewage pipes, the introduction of this Water PPP will be required from fiscal year 2027 onwards, with some exceptions. As a result, municipalities responsible for many sewerage projects need to accelerate their consideration of Water PPPs, but they are currently struggling to address aging infrastructure, disaster response, and efforts toward decarbonization, all while managing limited budgets and staff. Our city plans to introduce Water PPP in fiscal year 2025, and we hope to address the aforementioned challenges as well.
