In August 2019, a transmission line in the mountains was struck directly by lightning. A lightning surge flowed into the substation, causing damage to some of the equipment. In the winter of 2023, lightning struck again on a transmission line in the high mountains, resulting in significant operational challenges such as securing personnel for recovery and arranging alternative measures due to the damage caused by the lightning strike.
