In September 2013, a landslide occurred on the grounds of Kiyomizu-dera due to heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon No. 18. Kiyomizu-dera has previously experienced landslides caused by record rainfall, and the slopes were restored using the geofiber method. The slopes restored at that time withstood the recent heavy rainfall, reaffirming the superiority of the geofiber method.
