Pupil lumen

A new standard for lighting evaluation has already been established in Europe and the United States, considering the state of human pupils!

We would like to introduce "PLM: Pupil Lumen." Recent research has revealed that the traditional brightness standard "Lux" is not directly related to human visual capability. Instead, a new concept called "Pupil Lumen (Plm)," which takes into account the state of the human pupil, has begun to emerge as a new standard for lighting evaluation in Europe and the United States. [Summary (Excerpt)] - The diameter of the human pupil varies between 2 to 8 mm, resulting in an area change of up to 16 times. - In bright environments, the pupil constricts, reducing the amount of light entering the eye. - Conversely, in areas without strong light, the pupil dilates, allowing more light to enter the eye. As a result, one may perceive the environment as brighter than indicated by the Lux value. - The calculation method for pupil lumen involves applying a correction factor (S/P Ratio Correction Factor) to each lighting source. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Exhibiting at Technical Show Yokohama 2024! Seminar videos now available.

A third option to replace mercury lamps with LED: "Electrode-less lamps"! Seminar video from Technical Show Yokohama 2024 is now available.

The "electrode-less lamp," which is gaining attention as a third option to replace mercury lamps alongside LEDs, has a structure that is completely different from the filament structure of traditional light bulbs. Because it has no electrodes, it offers a long lifespan and a gentle brightness. It is noteworthy that its power consumption and electricity costs are less than half of those of mercury lamps, and due to its light emission through magnetic force, there are no consumable materials in the lamp, resulting in a long lifespan. Additionally, its low heat generation and low power consumption help keep running costs down. This "electrode-less lamp" was certified as a product by Yokohama City in October 2023. It was also exhibited at the large-scale exhibition "Technical Show Yokohama 2024," which will be held at Pacifico Yokohama in February 2024, as well as in the presentation space on the second floor of the Yokohama City Hall. We have also included a video of the seminar conducted at Technical Show Yokohama 2024! [Content Highlights (Partial)] - Features of Sakura Lighting's electrode-less lamp - Differences from fluorescent lamps - Structure and principles of Sakura Lighting's electrode-less lamp - Lifespan of Sakura Lighting's electrode-less lamp - Case studies (gymnasiums/sports facilities/shrine-related) *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Mercury lamps and LEDs: The third alternative - What are electromagnetic lamps?

Ideal for replacing mercury lamps and LED lighting! What is the next-generation lighting "electrode-less lamp" that boasts a long lifespan of 100,000 hours and energy efficiency?

The "electrode-less lamp" does not have filaments or electrodes inside the light-emitting tube like fluorescent or mercury lamps, so it is not affected by the lifespan issues caused by electrode wear, allowing the lamp itself to continue lighting permanently without burnout. The power consumption is about one-third that of a mercury lamp with the same brightness. It has a color rendering close to sunlight and does not emit blue light like LEDs, so it does not cause eye strain even with prolonged use. Additionally, it lights up instantly, making it reliable as emergency lighting during power outages. 【Features】 - Power consumption is about one-third that of a mercury lamp with the same brightness (electricity costs are less than half of those of mercury lamps). - With low heat generation of 80-90°C, it helps save on electricity costs for air conditioning systems. - It lights up instantly, making it reliable as emergency lighting during power outages. - It is close to natural light and minimizes shadows, making it suitable for high-ceiling lighting. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Switching from mercury lamps is not just to LED! Electrode-less lamps.

Perfect for switching from mercury lamps! The lifespan of a non-electrode lamp equals the lifespan of the inverter! A lamp that emits light through coils, with no bulb burnout.

The electrodeless lamp is a bulb that does not have electrodes inside the light-emitting tube, utilizing the principles of electromagnetic induction and discharge for light emission. It consists of an inverter (ballast), an induction coil, and a light-emitting body. The inverter generates a magnetic field from the induction coil, causing electromagnetic induction. The electrons generated by this process excite the atoms inside the tube, producing ultraviolet light, which then collides with the phosphor on the inner wall of the bulb to create visible light. 【Features】 ■ Wide emission range ■ Energy-saving (electricity costs reduced by more than half) ■ Natural light ■ No flicker (gentle on the eyes) ■ Difficult to create shadows *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Essential for those considering the introduction of high ceiling lighting: Features of different types of lighting explained in 3 minutes.

Are you considering switching to high ceiling lighting due to the abolition of mercury lamps? We are currently offering a document summarizing the features of "mercury lamps," "LEDs," and "electrode-less lamps"!

In Japan, the adoption of the "Minamata Convention on Mercury" has led to a ban on the manufacture, export, or import of mercury lamps starting in 2021. Mercury lamps are primarily used as high-ceiling lighting in factories and warehouses, and when switching, it is necessary to introduce a different type of lighting than before. This document explains three options for switching: "mercury lamps," "LEDs," and "induction lamps," using diagrams for clarity. Many people consider LEDs when thinking about switching lighting, but induction lamps are also an alternative. Due to their power consumption and electricity costs being less than half that of mercury lamps, they have already become quite mainstream in the United States. 【Features of High-Ceiling Lighting Anyone Can Understand ○ Features of Mercury Lamps ○ Features of LEDs ○ Features of Induction Lamps You can check the explanatory document using diagrams by downloading the PDF.

New standards for lighting selection! What is pupil lumen?

A way of thinking that takes into account the state of human pupils! What is the new lighting standard 'Pupil Lumen' that has already been established in Europe and the United States?

Recent research has revealed that the traditional standard for measuring brightness, "lux," is not directly related to human visual capability. Instead, a concept called "pupil lumen," which takes into account the state of a person's pupil, is beginning to emerge as a new standard for lighting in places like Europe and the United States. The diameter of the human pupil varies between 2-8 mm; in bright environments, the pupil constricts to reduce the amount of light entering the eye, while in darker settings, the pupil dilates, allowing more light in. As a result, there can be a phenomenon where the perceived brightness is greater than the lux measurement. Additionally, the calculation method involves applying a correction factor (S/P Ratio Correction Factor) to each lighting source. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Introduction case 6 of the electrode-less lamp: Dairy barn

Increasing milking volume by using electromagnetic-free lamps for barn lighting! Widely adopted by dairy farmers and factories in the United States!

A professor at Hiroshima University Graduate School (Animal Husbandry Management) has been researching the effects of barn lighting on cows since 2013, focusing on the hormone "cortisol," which is secreted when cows feel stress (often referred to as the "stress hormone" due to its rapid increase in secretion when the body experiences stress). The "electrode-less lamp" is considered to be close to sunlight among lighting devices and is thought to be a factor that does not induce stress. Additionally, this product has two types of light sources, with the "circle type" serving as a replacement for mercury lamps and capable of wide-area illumination. 【Features of the Electrode-less Lamp】 ■ Circle Type - Compatible with mercury lamps up to 1000W class - Can illuminate a wider area than the bulb type - Low-frequency type (adopted in the United States) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Magazine Article] Electrode-less lamps with power consumption and electricity costs less than half of mercury lamps.

Switching from mercury lamps is not just about LED! The 'Next Generation Energy-Saving Lighting SAKUGEN' uses less than half the power consumption and electricity costs of mercury lamps.

We would like to introduce an article published in the November issue of "Company Tank." The electrodeless lamp adopts a mechanism based on the principles of electromagnetic induction and light emission through discharge. Since there are no filament electrodes inside the light-emitting tube, it is not affected by the lifespan due to electrode wear, allowing the lamp itself to continue lighting for nearly an indefinite period. Instant lighting and instant re-lighting are easily achievable, and due to its high color rendering, it allows for viewing objects in colors close to those seen in natural light. 【Contents】 - Company Introduction - Introduction of the Representative Director - Introduction of the Electrodeless Lamp - Principle of Light Emission of the Electrodeless Lamp - Case Studies of Electrodeless Lamp Implementation For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.
