AutoSlide is a product developed by the Australian company Autoslide and is sold in 30 countries worldwide. In Japan, Earthwalker Trading Co., Ltd. and First Raise Co., Ltd. sell the Japan-specific AutoSlide under the name "AutoSlide Japan." The differences between the Japan-specific and overseas models include electrical components, installation programs, and unique sensors. Japan has four distinct seasons and a unique architectural culture that has developed over a long history. Both the shakkanhō (traditional Japanese measurement system) and the metric system coexist, and the shapes of fittings based on shoji (sliding doors) are also unique to Japan. Understanding these Japanese circumstances well, our mission at AutoSlide Japan is to optimize AutoSlide, develop products and components unique to Japan, and make them more suitable for the Japanese market.
Business Activities
In July 2014, the NHK news program "Ohayou Nippon" introduced Auto Slide, and for several days, we received an overwhelming response, with phone calls ringing non-stop throughout the day. Among the feedback, we received numerous requests such as, "It's difficult to open the door because it requires strength," and "It would be helpful if the door opened automatically since I live in a wheelchair." I was surprised to see how many people struggle with opening and closing doors. Now in its sixth year of sales in Japan, Auto Slide has expanded beyond the initial strong interest from private households to include inquiries from corporate customers such as stores, factories, public facilities, hospitals, and schools. Until then, there were several kits available in Japan to convert sliding doors into automatic doors, and there still are. However, none were as low-cost, easy to install, or versatile as Auto Slide. From barrier-free access to efficiency improvements and hygiene enhancements, each customer has their own concerns regarding doors and challenges that need to be addressed. Auto Slide provides solutions to these issues through retrofitting automation.
